Why clad
Timber weatherboarding is a maintenance habit
A painted timber elevation looks superb for about four years, then asks for scaffolding and a fortnight every time.
Modern uPVC and composite boards give you the same shadow lines and board widths without the repainting. On a tile-hung or weatherboarded Sussex elevation they read correctly from the pavement.
Fitted over a ventilated batten framework so the wall behind can breathe, with the junctions, corners and stop ends detailed rather than butted together and sealed.
- Shiplap, open-V and flat board profiles
- Woodgrain and smooth finishes in a range of colours
- Ventilated batten framework behind
- Corners, stop ends and junctions properly detailed

Worth knowing
What is behind it matters
Cladding covers an elevation. It does not fix one.
If the timber behind is rotten, or the wall is damp, boarding over it hides the problem and lets it carry on. That is how a cheap job becomes an expensive one three years later.
We strip back and look before quoting, and we will tell you if there is repair work needed underneath rather than covering it and saying nothing.

Rooftrim
The rest of the roofline
Cladding is usually done alongside the boards and gutters above it.

Soffits and Fascias
The boards behind your guttering. Replace them and the whole roofline looks new — and stops rotting.

Guttering and Downpipes
Seamless replacement guttering sized for the roof, so water goes where it should rather than down the wall.

Bargeboards
The boards up the slope of a gable. Usually the first rooftrim to fail, and the most visible when it does.
