Why uPVC
The door you stop thinking about
A back door takes more abuse than any other in the house. uPVC handles it and asks for nothing back.
The profile is built the same way as a uPVC window: several sealed chambers through the section, internally reinforced, with compression seals all the way round and multi-point locking into the frame.
It doesn’t swell in the wet, doesn’t need repainting and doesn’t care about muddy boots. Wipe it down when you clean the windows and that’s the maintenance done.
- No repainting and no swelling
- Multi-point locking as standard
- White, cream, grey, black and woodgrain finishes
- Available as single doors, French doors and stable doors

Benefits
What you get with uPVC
Secure as standard
Multi-point locking and an anti-snap cylinder on every external door we fit.
Warm and sealed
Multi-chamber profiles and compression seals stop the draught round a tired old door.
No maintenance
No sanding, no repainting, no sticking in the wet. Clean it and forget it.
Light into the kitchen
Half-panel glazing is the usual answer — daylight up top, solid where it takes knocks.
Matches your windows
Same colours and woodgrain foils, so the back of the house reads as one job.
Recyclable
uPVC is recyclable at the end of its life rather than going to landfill.
Worth knowing
Where the threshold matters
The detail people forget on a back door is the bit you step over.
A standard threshold seals best but stands proud, which is a trip hazard in a busy doorway and a problem for a wheelchair or a pushchair. A low threshold solves that but needs the outside levels and drainage to be right, or water finds its way in.
We’ll look at the step, the fall of the patio and where the water goes before we specify one, rather than fitting whatever comes as standard.

Materials
Not sure uPVC is the one?
Each material has its place. Here’s what the others are better at.

Composite Doors
A solid timber core wrapped in a tough moulded skin. The strongest, warmest and most popular choice for a front door.

Warmer hallways

Any colour you like
A wide range of colours and woodgrain finishes, with different shades inside and out.
More daylight
Glazed panels, side screens and top lights bring light into a dark hall or landing.
Nothing to repaint
Composite, uPVC and aluminium need no more than a wipe down and a drop of oil on the hinges.
