The brief
One big room into five
The brief was to divide a single conference room into three guest suites and two offices. That means new partitions, new services, new bathrooms and a new corridor, all inside the footprint of the old room.
A hotel suite is a harder room to build than it looks. Each one needs plumbing, ventilation, separation from its neighbour and a finish that stands up to being used every night.
What we did
What a suite takes
The suites have bedrooms with slatted timber feature walls and full-height windows, and bathrooms tiled to the ceiling in large-format tiles. The bathrooms have walk-in showers, countertop basins on floating shelves and backlit mirrors, and one has a freestanding bath with a screen set into the wall beside it.
Outside the rooms, a new corridor links the suites and the offices, with oak doors and emergency signage in place — the part of a commercial job nobody photographs, and the part that has to be right.
